![]() So, I walked down into my basement office on Saturday to investigate a weird noise, and discovered my beautiful 46 gallon aquarium (shown here when I first set it up last year) had only an inch of water in it. The rest, was all over everything.. carpet, mail, paperwork, and CDs. We spent the rest of the weekend doing fishy triage and driving all over town trying to find a replacement tank. Then at lunch today, I rented a carpet cleaner to get most of the smell out of my office. What a weekend! UPDATE: Pics of the new setup It turns out, that there was a small spot in the corner where silicon wasn't quite as thick as everywhere else. I had noticed this when I set the tank up a year ago, but it held water, and seemed ok. All tanks are hand sealed and have various aberations in the silicon lines. For an unknown reason though, early saturday morning, water started to spurt out this spot under the tank. I searched the office but I think I threw out the receipt for the tank, but thankfully my exelent neighborhood aquarium A World of Fish has offered to re-emburse me for the cost of the tank. They didn't have any in stock however, and I needed to get the fish back in a home ASAP. Oh, and did I mention they had an identical model in the back having a leak repaired in the exact same spot? Must have been a bad lot. (Its an Oceanic 46g bow-front, normally well known for quality). I have replaced it with another, very well inspected tank of the same model, along with a stand to move the tank farther from office equipment. Finally 3 days later, all is back to normal. I hope to post some pics of my new setup soon, its really very nice. |
