One of the best descriptions of wealth theory I have seen is this one written by Paul Graham. I'm not sure I agree with all of his assumptions, but there is definitely some wisdom to absorb here.

As a software developer, I prefer to write code that runs on opensource platforms and in languages which are themselves open (eg, linux, php, perl, c, etc) and I can't help but feel taken advantage of when coding in microsoft languages like VB.
